In January 2015, Shurat HaDin formally requested that the International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor open an investigation into alleged crimes against humanity committed by Palestinian Authority senior officer Majid Faraj, the official head of Palestinian General Intelligence Agency (GIA).
Our complaint alleges that Faraj, a senior Palestinian Authority officer, knowingly employs torture against ordinary Palestinians and is guilty of committing crimes against humanity in violation of the Rome Statute.
Faraj is a senior official responsible for agencies within the Palestinian security apparatus and is therefore liable for the widespread civil rights abuses and killings which were perpetrated by the GIA.
The complaint requests that the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC investigate Faraj for torture and murder and issue a warrant for his arrest.
