Thirty-six years after four terrorists from the Palestine Liberation Front selzed control of the Italian cruise ship the S.S. Achille Lauro,wheelchalr-bound American Jew, and then tossing his body and wheelchair overboard, the victims of that horrific crime have recelved a small measure of justice thanks to the tireless efforts of Shurat HaDin. Leon Klinghoffer was not the only victim of the heinous terror assault. Shurat HaDin represented two other victims, Sofi Chiser and Anna Schneider, both American Jews, who were singled out for harsh treatment by the Palestinian terrorists when the terrorists took control of the ship. The American Jewish victims, represented by Shurat HaDin, fought what seemed to be an endless fight to hold the Palestine Liberation Organization accountable for the pain and suffering their operation inflicted.The PLO, the umbrella group that oversaw multiple terrorist factions, had to sanction and approve major operations, such as the selzure of the Achille Lauro. In July 2021, a Jerusalem court ordered the PLO to pay 1 million New Israeli Shekels to the estates of the two victims. The PLO argued that it had nothing to do with the murder at sea, but the court was not buying it. We are very proud of our legal effort and the message it sends that we will never stop pursuing those who target Jews or perpetrate violence against our communities. Never again means pursuing the terrorist organizations forever.
