Lawsuit Against the Qatari Banks and Charities for Funding Hamas
The State of Qatar supports numerous Islamic fundamentalist terror groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood and ISIS; the tiny oil-rich nation is the primary benefactor of Hamas, providing the group with billions of dollars in aid funneled through banks and Islamic charities. The Qatari money is ostensibly intended to benefit the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, but instead finances terror tunnels, terrorist salaries, and missiles aimed at Israel. In June 2021, Shurat HaDin filed a historic NIS 1 billion lawsuit on behalf of 120 individual plaintiffs—including the family of Daniel Turgeman, a four-and-a-half-year-old from Kibbutz Nahal Oz killed by Hamas rockets in 2014—against Qatar and several Qatari banks for providing the logistical support for Hamas attacks that killed and wounded Israelis. Shurat HaDin founder and president Nitsana Darshan-Leitner proclaimed, “If Israel cannot prevent Qatari funding of Palestinian terrorism, then the victims of terrorism will act to prevent it.”
